Three ways to add art into your everyday

Three ways to add art into your everyday

Art is often relegated to something framed and on the wall, but did you know most full time artists aren't working in galleries or wall art? Think about it next time you go shopping: every image you see on clothing, packaging, billboards or stationary is an example of art that someone, somewhere, spent time creating. That said, different forms of art have different purposes  - whether it be purely decorative or to sell you on a product or idea. I share this to help get you thinking about all the ways art is already in your life, before we hone in on a few of my favourite ways to incorporate art I love into my everyday life:

Stationary

I'm an avid note-taker and I am quite picky when it comes to what pens and notebooks I use. Notebooks are an incredible way of incorporating art into your everyday with an endless sea of different styles to choose from. Find a notebook with cover art you love and you'll feel a spark of joy each time our reach for it.

Want to mix it up? My personal favourite notebooks are a Clairefontaine, unlined A5. These come with plain covers s each time I purchase a new one I add one of my decals to the cover to set it apart.

Greeting Cards

A next level greeting card can make or break a simple gift. These days vouchers are the commonly accepted, if not preferred gifts of the masses. A voucher alone though? Minimal effort, and it shows. With the right greeting card however, you've not just gifted that future dinner/ sauna / make up haul they were dreaming of, but given them a keepsake they'll treasure.

Greeting cards are easy to display, either on their own, on a shelf, a noticeboard or the fridge; or with some extra care, displayed as artwork in a frame. Alternatively, they take up minimal space stored away with other keepsakes.

Wall art - but not as you know it!

Wall art seem obvious but have you considered all the possibilities of where you might add some wall art? Rather than stick to the largest, dominate walls of your home, consider more mundane spaces such as your bathroom, laundry or pantry.

Can't use hooks? If you are renting or tight on space consider decals. These are a great way of adding art without the hassle of finding a frame and hammering anything. Decals are a great option for kids rooms or even campervans and tiny homes as they avoid any risk of a glass breaking from rough play or travel.
