Whether it's Christmas or a summer barbeque, you can't beat a classic pavlova for desert.
Named after Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, this classic desert's country of origin is a topic of regular debate. New Zealand claims it was created in 1926 by a Wellington chef to honor Pavlova during her tour. Australia says it was invented in 1935 by a chef in Perth.
The dessert features a crispy meringue shell with a soft interior, topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit, and regardless of origins, remains popular in both countries.
